1991 gmc: c1500..door hinge pins..door on driver side is sagging

Resolved Question:

I need answer on a 1991 gmc c1500 truck. I replaced door hinge pins because
the door on driver side is sagging and will not close without banging it.
After replacement the door is still sagging about 1/2 inch.

The problem is the door pillar that the hinges are mounted on is distorted. You will have to open the door about 6 inches, then using a block of wood on the lifting pad of a floor jack raise the outer edge of the door. This will get the door to close easily again.

I tried this but I don't know how much pressure to put on the door with the

floor jack. Will this damage anything? Thank you.

You do put a considerable amount of pressure to do this, you will see the weight of the truck being lifted as this is done. Try to keep the block and jack as close to the outer end of the door, this will give you the most leverage. Make sure the block of wood is under the inner door, being careful not to catch the out door skin. It is best done with a helper,so that they can hold the door from swinging in or out as the jack is used to apply pressure.Do this a few times until, the door closes easily.
