2005 GMC Sierra - 3500 - 4x4 Diesel: Problem with Front Wheel bearing - Driver-side
It is a common problem for these to fail, this is a wheel bearing hub assembly. These are readly available at any auto parts store.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
What is the process to replace the assembly - it looks like there is a (gold?) metal cap that may need to be removed,.. is that correct?
Yes the cap needs to be removed there is a large not for the axle behind it that and that needs to be removed, you also need to remove the brakes and rotor, there are 4 bolts from behind that need to be removed and then the hub will come out, it may take a little pounding to get it out. The hub assembly will come with the ABS sensor and wire if equipped and that needs to be unplugged and replaced.
