Hello jrk1028,

You will need to replace the primary hood release cable.Here is some info to help you.


    Object Number: 277521  Size: SH

  1. When the cable breaks, release the hood by pressing the primary latch tab on the left side of the lock assembly. Use a rod to press the latch tab.
    Object Number: 277522  Size: SH

  2. Raise the hood.
  3. Remove the cable from the primary latch (1).
    3.1. Insert a screwdriver into the clip.
    3.2. Lift the cable from the lock.
    3.3. Carefully pry the cable grommet from the lock flange.
  4. Remove the 5 upper radiator grille screws.
  5. Move the grille forward to access the cable.
  6. Remove the cable from the radiator support (2).
  7. Remove the cable from the wheelhouse retaining clips.
  8. Remove the 2 bolts from under the instrument panel inside the cab retaining the hood release handle.
  9. Push the cable into cab from the engine compartment.
  10. Push the grommet into the cab from the engine compartment.
  11. Remove the cable from the vehicle.

  1. Install the cable to the vehicle.
    Object Number: 277522  Size: SH

  2. Install the cable from the driver's side of the cowl.
  3. Push the cable and the grommet into the engine compartment.
  4. Install the 2 bolts holding the hood release handle to the bottom of the instrument panel.
  5. Seat the grommet.
  6. Install the cable through the retaining clips and the radiator support (2).
  7. Install the 5 screws into the upper radiator grille.
  8. Install the cable to the primary latch (1).

The handle is a part of the cable assembly
