2001 GMC Sonoma: aftermarket new gas cap..same code

Resolved Question:

I have a 2001 GMC Sonoma 4.3 v6 2wd

I keep getting a P0446 code and so far have changed to an aftermarket new gas cap and am still getting the same code. what else can I check that this code would apply to? The truck has 52,000 miles and all "normal" driving, not all hwy or all city.

HelloCustomer how long after the check engine light was reset did it take to come back on?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
After I replaced the cap and reset the code, it was about 2 days, maybe 3.

Okay. You need to check the evap vent valve and associated hoses. It is common for these to become dirty or contaminated with debris. THey are located under the vehicle as shown. Disconnect it and clean the valve and the connections. Also make sure that the hose is clear.
