Customer Question

I am an American citizen and I have a student visa in Germany that expires on June 15. I was in the process of renewing it while I was in Germany, when I had to return home for a family emergency on May 26. I have a flight to go back to Germany on June 24. I have an acceptance letter from my language school as well as sufficient funds. Will I be allowed back into the country to renew my visa, as school starts again on July 16?

Dear Customer,

if you have no valid visa you will not be allowed to enter as your visa by that time will already have expired.

So I would strongly recommend you contact the German embassy in the USA and renew your visa there.

Do it as quick as possible so you have a valid visa when you travel back

I understood that there is a few weeks of a grace period after the visa expires especially with an American passport. My visa expired only 9 days before my arrival. Is not possible to enter? What happens when I get there? will they send me back? And can I go through another country such as Italy?
