Hi! I would like to get an expert opinion on this painting. It was painted by Ernest Henderson (cartoonist) It measures approximately 12 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches including frame. I believe it is oil on board. The back is signed Ernest Henderson as well. It also has "Fun in the Virgin Islands" on loan from Tracy M. Speake Germantown, TN handwritten on the back. There is a Henderson's Fine Arts, Inc.XXXXX No. Birmingham, ALA 35203 gold foil label as well. I cannot find any record of sales. Would like to have an idea of value. I have found one example of his work but it is nothing like this piece. It is an industrial scene. Thank You, Diane
I just saw this post http://www.justanswer.com/antiques/6pbbz-antique-weathervane-meralee-stamped.html and wanted to say that my Grandfather, Joseph McGrath, made these weathervanes during the 1940's in Springfield, MA. They are of the Morgan horse, Ethan Allen in a full out trot. I have his sales receipt book, photographs, business letters and advertisements. He lived in Springfield, Ma and often covered these with gold leaf. I don't have one of his weather vanes and would love to purchase one if you ever hear of one.
