Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy) and welcome to JustAnswer!
Opening ceremonies may slightly differ depending on the business type for which the ceremony is to be planned but I will try to give you a general outline along with a few web articles, here we go:
1- Decide on a date, decide on who are going to be the key participants (important people) and make sure they will all attend the ceremony,
2- See if you can invite any benefit party (charity etc.) as they may be of a lot of help.
3- Assign/hire a person as Master of the Ceremony, he/she will make sure everything goes ok,
4- Prepare a list of the people you would like to invite,
5- Try to organize some media participants, e.g. TV, radio stations, newspapers etc.,
6- Prepare poster and flyers and place them in appropriate places, schools, grocery stores, post offices and any place where there is a lot of foot traffic,
7- Prepare inviatations, and make sure you include these:
-name of the event,
-date and time,
-location, and
-name of the ribbon cutter and any other distinguished guests,
-RSVP information.
8- Prepare event schedule: welcome and introductions, speeches, ribbon-cutting, recognition of contributors and closing.
9- After mailing out the invitations make sure you keep track on RSVP replies,
10- Find a large pair of scissors, you may rent one from a prty rental store, also purchase an appropriate ribbon.
11- Arrange the place where the opening will take place, appropriate decoration, sitting (if neccessary)
12- Arrange any activities that you may offer after the opening, like introducing the business place to the guests, snacks and drinks etc.
