I did some research on this blanket, and the company Bilt-Safe had a recall for their electric blankets back in 2004. The blankets were manufactured in China, and the controllers were a fire hazard. There were 86 reports of charring, and burns from the product, and was claimed defective.

Unfortunately, the firm went out of business, and there is no remedy for this.

I would have to suggest, for safety reasons, that it would just be safer to purchase a new blanket.
