Hello,Welcome to our site and thanks for your question. My name isXXXXX and I will do whatever I can to help you.
Can you post a picture?
You can use the paper clip icon at the top of the reply page. It looks like this
Alternately, you can place the images on a photo-sharing site and send us the link.
Looking forward to seeing the caterpillar
I will send a picture through the support department. My cat stepped on the keyboard and I lost it. It is in Ontario and big and brown and is larger at front than back . Eating the Virginia creeper.
YOU STILL HAVEN'T GOT IT ?
No I haven't. When it comes in, it will be put on this page.
It has been identified as a Showy larva. Someone was determined enough to spend hours to deter, mine what half of the province of Ontario had been looking for.Thank You.
You're so very welcome. Sadly, the pictures were never sent to me. Pictures sent through support rather than through the paper clip icon or through a photo sharing site sometimes take as much as 24 hours to post. I'm happy the disgusting bug has been identified though. Showys aren't a thing of beauty, for sure!
YES THEY SHOWED THE PICTURE OF THE MOTH AND I TOLD THEM ABOUT A CATERPILLAR THAT AT FIRST I THOUGHT WAS A LEAF THAT I BRUSHED OFF MY LEG WHEN WE WERE BERRY PICKING. IT WAS MORE HORRIFYING THAN BARB'S. TRIANGULAR SHAPED WITH HUGE BIG EYES AND NOT MUCH AT THE BACK. THE OPPOSITE SHAPE THAN THE MOTH. I NEVER WENT IN THE TALL GRASS AGAIN. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TROUBLE.
You're so very welcome. The picture finally arrived and it is a Showy.
We have the creature in the picture below in our area each summer. It's a tomato horn worm and can be up to 4-5 inches long.
It grows into this adult moth:
