Hi Henry,

Thank you for the request.

This is a French Louis XV style large size bombay bureau plat or partners desk. Leather top with inlaid wood, or marquetry design, in stylized acanthus leaf scrolls and ormolu mounts. Material is a combination of satin, tulip and king wood.

Large size indicates this is 19th century piece. On today’s market this would have a sale value of $3000 - $4500.

Feel free if you have further questions about your Louis XV style bombay bureau plat.

Please only leave feedback when you feel satisfied your question has been answered.

Our conversation will continue as long as you please, even after a rating is left.

Sincerely,
Nora

Hi Henry,

Nice to 'see' you here today.

Could you please post a new question with my name at the beginning.

The photo here is small (will not let me zoom) and not in focus. If you can capture a good in-focus image of the decoration, one of the maker mark on the bottom and the height - then I can move forward on your valuation of the vase.

Thank you!
Nora

Hi Henry,

Thank you for the request.

I know how the vase was made and the decorative styles, but not the various marks on the bottom. the marks are what help establish age, maker and hence value.

I think it is best to see if another expert will pick up the "vase" question to answer for you.

I wish I could be of more help on this one.

Sincerely,
Nora

can you give it to expert

thanks

Hi Henry,

Your 'Vase' question is on the open boards for all the experts to see when they are signed in and online.

If someone knows the answer, they will respond. If you do not get a response - then it is a fairly good indication that those who have opened the question do not know the marks.

I would suggest contacting I.M. Chait in Beverly Hills. They do charge up to $200 for evaluations. However, if you approach them with the intention that you would like to have it consigned - you may
get a sales estimate from them.

http://www.chait.com/

There is also Gotheborg.com - though he is fairly inundated - I do think he also has a pay service for translating, but not value.

I hope you find the information you seek on this vase.

When you do find out, I am curious to know as well. Please feel free to share the information.

Sincerely,
Nora
