Cruise question

This answer was rated:

We have been asked to join friends on a "Crystal Symphony" cruise making stops at various ports in Italy: Rome, Florence, Portofino, MonteCarlo, Palamos, Barcelona, Spain. I would like to know what the temperatures will be like that time of the year (Aug.3-Aug.10, 2013). I would also like to know what level cruise ship the "Crystal Symphony" is, as I am no the least bit familiar with this sort of thing and have never been on a cruise.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a wonderful and exciting trip planned. There are different ratings systems used for cruise ships, but the Crystal ships (with Symphony at the top) are rated consistently high regardless of the system. It is considered a top luxury ship. On this site, ships are rated from 1 to 6, with 6 being the best. Crystal Symphony received a 6 in all categories.

Here, you can read reviews of the ship. You'll find that 91% of passengers were very happy with their cruise on this ship.

As for the temperatures, August in Rome, Florence, Palamos, and Barcelona typically sees night time temperatures of around 65*F, with daytime highs in the mid-80*s. Portofino and MonteCarlo have slightly cooler averages - upper 70*s in the daytime, but high 60*'s at night. August is the driest month of the year in the area, with only about 6 days of rain.
