Hi- Thank you for your question!

I am thinking that you are talking about the freighter Prusa. The Prusa was torpedoed by the Imperial Japanese Navy submarine, I-172, on December 19, killing ten of the crew. You can read an article on the event in the 12/29/41 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette here:

http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1129&dat=19411229&id=ppRRAAAAIBAJ&sjid=LWoDAAAAIBAJ&pg=2852,1072800

I am including a very long URL that I used to research the Prusa, in case you want to use it as well. You can just cut and paste it into your browser:

My grandmother's brother was on the lifeboat that was rescued! The family story was that they were drifting at sea for 30 days before being rescued !!

Thanks for a great job

Hi-

I am glad that I could be of help. The link to a news report below gives more of an idea about what that situation on the Prusa was like. It said that the 11 men in the lifeboat had to bail water almost continuously the whole time they sailed 2500 miles across the Pacific over 31 days.
