Customer Question

Are there any programs LIKE Jobcorps (but that is NOT Jobcorps) that offer a job trades at no cost (or even a small price) to the individual that is Government/state paid LIKE Jobcorps? It would be great if the information could be about FL or TX if not other states would be good too.
Can you let me know the rquirements to qualify? For example maximum age...

Here are four main alternative programs for you to take a more careful look at.

Americorps

americorps.gov

(18-24) age range for Americorps

City Year (17-24) works in U.S., London, and South Africa

cityyear.org

Student Conservation Association (SCA) (over 18) last 12 to 52 weeks.

thesca.org

Finally, the Peace Corps - overseas for 27 months. This one has students and older professionals (you mentioned a maximum type age)

peacecorps.gov

Check out those sites and the information they have - hopefully one of those will help to fit the needs you have.

As you read more about them you will see the pros and cons of each depending on your situation. Even though most are "no cost," they are generally still expenses involved with working in different areas of the country and the world. They usually provide assistance and stipends but those are generally bare minimum. Most involved still require some sort of outside support in some way.

The links for them are: (Click on each to open up the official pages).

AMERICORPS

CITY YEAR

SCA

Peace Corps

All the best as you seek the best one for you!
