DXJAnswer :

Based upon the information posted on the clinical massage training program in Texas http://www.texashealingarts.com/cmt_overview.html#nationalcert

and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, the national license serves as the priXXXX XXcensure for medical or clinical massage. http://www.ncbtmb.org/about_required_states.php

According to the Texas State Board of licensure Massage Therapy main page under the Apply for new license: http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/massage/mt_exam.shtm,

Apply for a New License - Examination

The new rules were adopted effective January 1, 2009, and the old 300 hour examination is no longer available for applications postmarked after December 31, 2008. All applicants who have satisfactorily completed massage therapy studies in an accepted course of instruction must pass an examination administered by either:

  • The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards at: http://www.fsmtb.org/
  • The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork at: http://www.ncbtmb.com/

Examination fees, locations of test sites, and information on disability accommodations are available through the websites listed above.

*If you are certified through the national board, then you should consult the new license portion of the Massage therapy page. You can apply for licensure online or discover whether Texas requires further testing.

Hope this helps! DXJ

Glad I could help!

Licensure can be tricky, even more so since the change in massage licensing and classifications therein.

Best to you!
