Customer Question

Can cremains be transported is carry on baggage on a commercial airline?

Hello, and thanks for your question.

Cremated remains may be transported as carry on baggage on a commercial flight, but they must be able to be x-rayed as part of the security screening, so it is suggested that a temporary x-rayable container (not the final container/urn supplied by the funeral home) be used to transport the remains. If the contents of the container cannot be viewed on x-ray, it will not be allowed on the plane.
