I have a cooking question. Is there such a thing as an eating persimmon and a cooking or baking persimmon. Mine are medium size Persimmons.

Hello,

Persimmons puzzle many people. There are two varieties commonly sold in the United States. Both can be peeled and eaten raw. The Fuyu is not good for baking or cooking. It is shaped like a tomato. The Hachiya looks more like a big acorn. It is the one used in recipes. Here is a photo of a Hachiya:
