Ok this is a couple of questions in one. I just need some guidance reallyLong story short my old best freind was a roomate and while I was gone for the military he spent up all my credit cards and I had no idea... I came back with terrible credit.. It was months and months of over due limit... I Just recently paid it all off, some by paying less then the amount owed settlement or something like that.. SO my credit Is terrible now! My wife has good credit standings but has some student loans. My question, what can I do to get my credit up if possible again? Do I have to wait 5 years for the restart before I can work on it again? Can me and my wife still get a house? Im in the military, I can maybe get VA Loan... will we get approved? In the sum upIf possible I need to know what I should do to help my credit. What we should do about maybe getting a house or car.Should we invest?Whats the secret to life? LOL joking on that one... But Really, were young and married and need advice.
Hey Matt,It's going to take some work. The first thing is to go through some of these lists and make sure you've done absolutely everything to clean up the past. There is free credit help out there...you don't have to pay for it.More info...You might be able to get a VA loan, or other help that is available now for first time buyers. If you go to a mortgage broker, they look for all kinds of loans for you, as they make the money by selling your loan to someone. You're going to have to show that you can pay your bills on time each month, so finding someone to give you credit and then paying on time is the situation they can use to justify giving you more credit. Also, make sure that you've sent your situation to each of the reporting service's files.Read the articles on the credit restoration sites, but remember that you don't need to pay for them.Good luck in your new life, and Happy Veteran's Day.Anna
