How do I remove the label attached to most items made of hard

Customer Question

How do I remove the label attached to most items made of hard plastic? I soaked it in hot water, all that came off is the paper..Then , I used nail polish remover. All that did was to roll it into little hard rubbery balls. Then , I used some Skin so soft(which contains oil)..that did nothing, except it smells good now.. The items I bought are deviled egg servers..The bottom is fine, but I need the top to travel with, and I want them to look good..Please help me. Thank you.........by the way, I have a new credit card, so dis-card the one you have now..will give you the new one when I get the answer....Thank you......Customer [email protected]

HelloCustomer welcome to Just Answer.

I use Solvo Plast II to remove any kind of label glue residue, it would really well. We can find that at drugstore around here.

Learned about this in an hospital where they use it to remove all kind of band-aid.

Hi Jean,

Since you've already used a few different products on your plastic cover, first, take a sponge with a 'light scrubby' side (not heavy duty) or a regular sponge, and try to get the sticky residue (and all the other products) off, with warm water and dishwashing liquid, then rinse with clear warm water. If this doesn't completely remove the adhesive, try Goo Gone, an adhesive (and multi-purpose) remover which comes in a bottle, a 'pen' and a spray. You can find it in any supermarket, home improvement store, Target, K-mart, Wal-Mart, Walgreen's etc. Here is more information about it:

After using it, wash the cover again, with warm water and dishwashing liquid, because Goo Gone has an oily base.
