Hello, and welcome to Just Answer!

Can you please tell me what each of the symbols are?

Thank you.
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
NO I DIDNT BUY IT. I CAN FIND OUT TOMORROW.

Take a good look at the symbols (maker marks) on the bottom and note what they are. If you have a digital camera that can take close-up pictures, that would be great too.

Hope to hear from you soon!

OK I WILL GET THEM THURSDAY AND EMAIL YOU BACK.
THANKYOU

Sounds good, Ruth.

If you have a magnifying glass, that may help you get a good look at them.

HI
I DONT HAVE A CAMERA SO I WILL TRY TO DESCRIBE IT AS BEST I CAN.   THE FIRST SYMBOL LOOKS LIKE A THREE LEAF CLOVER OR IN CARDS A SPADE. THE SECOND LOOKS LIKE A 35 CLOSER TOGETHER THE NEXT IS A 36 CLOSER OR 3B TOGETHER. THE LAST LOOKS LIKE A DAISY OR * . THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO. IF IT DOESNOT HELP I AM SORRY.

Hello, Ruth

I've spent quite a bit of time researching and have not been able to identify these marks. I am going to open your question to all of my fellow experts to see if they might be able to help.

Best wishes!

Take a look at the 1905 date mark shown on this site. Does the first mark on your set look like this?

HI
YES IT DOES
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
IN LAYMAN TERMS WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
THANKS

This particular mark indicates silver produced by the Whiting Manufacturing Company in 1905.

Whiting was acquired by Gorham in 1924.

However, since your piece DOESN'T have the "W in a circle with the two lions" mark shown on this same page, the identification of the tea set cannot be positively made as a Whiting set.

I have researched hundreds of silver hallmarks, old and recent, US and foreign, and have only found this one instance of that particular mark... but it wouldn't be fair to say that your tea set is "for sure" from Whiting.
