Please could you find the meaning for the name Ansam, and what language it originates from - I have looked everywhere
HelloCustomerand welcome to JustAnswer!

I believe it widely depends on your ancestry because as a word "ansam" has different meanings in different languages.

Ad Ansam is a name of a station on an old Roman way in UK, the article below says it means "before the opportunity":
http://www.roman-britain.org/places/ad_ansam.htm

In Arabic it means "breath of life" but I don't think it has anything to do if "ansam" is a name of a member of your family, which is obviously British.

Apperantly the name has British-Roman origins, in the sense that it was a name of a famous place.

Hope this helps but if you have questions let me know.

Relist: I still need help.
This name which I thought was arabic has only been found on a link relating to the names of arabic horses, so can anyone find this name as a girls/womans arabic website with its meaning

According to this site, the name 'Ansam' is a Danish corruption of the German name, 'Anselm'. It means 'divine guardian'.

Reply to Viki's Post: i would like you to find the arabic female name ansam on a web site, this is deffienetley a arabic name not german

I saw the Arabic horse site- I believe you were directed there for the translation, which said that Ansam meant, "breath of life".

Now I did find AnXXXXX XXXXXsted on a site of baby girl names, here: http://babynames.indastro.com/arabicthreefA.html- However, the link on that page to find the meanings of these names does not work.

Lastly, this is a site of traditional arabic songs. There is a track titled, "Ansam" and in parentheses it says, 'breezes'. http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,82566,00.html

I am inclined to believe that breezes or breath is the best translation. I have gone to translation sites on the web, but the word is not listed (possibly because it is a name).

Reply to Viki's Post: I need to be able to print off the arabic name ansam with its official meaning breath of life but not from a horses web site!
Hello againCustomer

I found the name Ansam in arabic in a book "The Dictionary of Muslim Names" By Salahuddin Ahmed. Below is a link to the book in Google Books, it's on page 239:

http://books.google.com/books?id=5i1zwcm-1PIC&pg=PA239&lpg=PA239&dq=arabic+names+ansam&source=web&ots=zDD7odX2fc&sig=c5hZJ6qy4LrC92B3A18AIM3HcuU#PPA239,M1

You can see how it's written in arabic, as well as the meaning of the name in English.

Hope this helps better.
