There are 'homemade' root starters that you can do yourself.

The first is:

1 TBSP dish soap

1 TBSP peroxide

1 Tsp whiskey

1 Tsp vitamin B-1

Mix all into a half gallon of warm Lipton tea water.

Another is:

1 gallon peat moss,

1 gallon vermiculite,

1 tablespoon superphosphate,

2 tablespoons ground limestone.

This mixture is more of a growth medium - kind of like miracle grow. Good luck!
