Buckeye and Chestnut are two different trees. The pod of the Buckeye tree is poison. The nut from the Chestnut is edible. There is the North American Buckeyes and the Eurasian species are often called Horse-chestnuts, White Chestnut, and Red Chestnut, but are not a Chestnut at all, but a buckeye and are of genus Aesculus.
