It depends on which version you want.... Hank Williams originally recorded it in 1952, and it was released 6 months after his death on New Year's Eve. However, it reached #1 ten years later when Charlie Pride recorded it again.
So I guess it depends on which version you are looking for, as to what other music was popular at the time.
My dad was born in 52 so that's the version I want. Found it on itunes so I'm all square on that. Now I just need some suggestions on what else to put on the CD.

I think I'm most interested in songs from around the same time period as the Kaw-liga song came out, or at least within that decade. County music or old fashioned (not screaming) rock and roll would be most appreciated.
