Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),
I found an article that goes into depth about this Hall-Edwards inheritance. It's considered to be something of an urban legend because, to date, no one has been able to claim this "supposed" inheritance because he/she doesn't have the proof to back up such a claim.
If someone could ever prove that they are descendents of Hall and Edwards and inheritors of their estate, then that person would inherit billions of dollars and own the land ("77 acres of prime Manhattan real estate") upon which the following well-known buildings reside: "Trinity Church, the Woolworth Building, the World Trade Center (This answers your question about whether Hall-Edwards owned the trade centers.), New York University, and Washington Square Park."
Here's the website I found the article on: http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library/article.aspx?article=2495
Check out the site. It goes into great detail about the history and geneology of the Hall-Edwards estate and the people who've tried to place a claim upon it in the past.
I hope that helps.
