ACCEPTED Check Mark

There were quite a few "semi" known people that went by the name of Robert Armistead.

The most widely know was the son of Colonel William Armistead, a navy colonel based in Virginia.

This particular family lived in the times of the civil war, and was of no particular interest, other than a genealogy (including his parents and children) of mid-high ranking navy personel.

This Robert Armistead died in 1742.

Here's a link ot a general high level genealogy on the Armistead family:

Hope this was the Robert Armistead you were looking for! If it wasn't, please try and add a bit more detail to your query and I will find the answer for you.

Thanks,

Patrick

Nothing in the information reveals a Robert Armistead who was an accomplished artist. The artwork was certainly not done by an amateur. I'm dissatisfied in the answer, since it obviously does not address my question. Not worth $15 - sorry.

This is an engraving/etching of a dog...maybe an English setter?...kind of a side view. Very nicely done. Approximately 7x10 inches. I can tell from the impression around the edges that it's not a print. It was my mother's, so I think it's older than 1950. Might be 1920? There's another one, different signature, so if we can get somewhere with this one there's another search for you! Thanks

Thanks for trying. I don't have the artwork with me, so I can't send a photo. If I can get a family member to do this for me, I'll be back in touch at a later date.
