Customer Question

I am a Jamiison and related to the Stewart/Stuart Royal Clan. Someone told me Bonnie Prince Charlie had no grandchildren. Is this true and if so how can I be related to the Stuart Clan?

"Related to" doesn't necessarily mean a straight line relationship. You would need to trace your genealogy back generation by generation to the 1730s to see exactly what, if any, relationship exists. There could be no legitimate connection to Prince Charles Edward.

Bonnie Prince Charlie had no legitimate offspring. His only known biological child was Charlotte Wilkinshaw/Stuart, born of his mistress Clementina Maria Sophia Wilkinshaw in October 1753. You will also see the name as Walkinshaw. There were no children with his wife Princess Louise of Stolberg, whom he married in 1772.

Charlotte was known as the Countess of Albany. She married an Italian, Ferdinand Dr Rohan Guemene, and had two daughters Aglae Clementine Guemene and Maria Beatrice Guemene.

Kind regards,

Oops, Charlotte didn't marry" Ferdinand. She was his mistress.
