Family history is that Francis Overkott was a soldier coming home ww1 fell ill on board ship and died and was buried at sea .all those that had any knowledge of relevant details have long gone but descendants would like to find out date and details of this part of our history would appreciate help

Francis turns up in the Boer war medal lists, he served in the Boer war 1899 / 1902

He died on board the H S Avoca on the way back from South Africa.

His full military record is available from the MOD it costs £30

He does not turn up in the 1901 English census because he was in South Africa, he had died before the 1911 census.
