Hello,

Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. Which Hutton family are you asking about - there are hundreds of them? The name is XXXXX XXXXX northern England and Scotland and translates from the original Old English as ridge settlement or enclosure.

John Hutton was born in County Down, Ireland. I understand that they had migrated from Scotland when the British Crown was attempting to create a protestant (Presbyterian). Hewas married in Killinchy. He later migrated to Lanark county in Canada bringing his family with him. I am interested in discovering any Scottish/English roots

When was he born in Co. Down? There are 60 births of John Huttons registered there.

The way that Just Answer works is that we try to research one thing per question. That may be a date of birth or parents' names. Entire family histories take weeks to months to research and cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. So where do you want to begin?

Customer replied 344 days and 12 hours ago.

John Hutton was born in 1799 in county Down. He married Elizabeth Douglas in Killinchy on 29 December 1825

This site has the most complete records for Ireland http://www.rootsireland.ie/ However, it has no record of the birth of John Hutton in Co. Down or his marriage to Elizabeth Douglas there. In fact there are no records of either event anywhere in Ireland. Often records just aren't online. One has to look for paper records in the churches, courthouses, town halls and other archives in the area.
