My PS3 is making a wierd clicking sound when energized. The clicking sound seems to be coming from the back of where the hard drive is at. After a few seconds I get a message, "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found."
Already Tried: Nothing
First thing you will want to try is to remove and reseat the harddrive. Remove the rectangular flat cover on the side of the PS3 using a flathead screwdriver. Then remove the large black philips head screw in the center of the harddrive, then grab the metal ring and pull the hard drive out. Use a can of compressed air and blow out the end of the hard drive that connects inside the PS, and also spray out the inside of the PS where the hard drive inserts. Re-insert the hard drive making sure it is secure and replace the black screw. Try to power up the PS3 at this point. If it still does not power up properly then the hard drive is corrupt and needs to be replaced using a standard SATA hard drive available at Staples or online.
