I am British and my wife is French national. She has been resident in the UK since 1995. Her parents are in a French nursing home, and under French law the govt. seek to recuperate the costs from the immediate familly when the parents can no longer pay for the cost of this social care. Question, can this French law be applied to my wife, bearing in mind we are fully uk domicilled and tax resident in the UK?

Hello, Yes this law can be applied to your wife, even if she in not a resident of France. The key components of this French law are having French nationality and being the daughter or son of a French citizen. The French nursing home can send the bill to England. This is the position in France.
