Customer Question

My brother met a woman at on approximately the 28th of January. He's already sent her $500.00 and believes they're a "Blessed Union", regardless of all the warnings he's received from my mother and sister. My concern is my mother. My brother lives with her. My main concern is for my mother at this point. She doesn't have much money, and I'm afraid he's managed to gain access to her checking account. I don't think he would take money directly from it, but may use it thinking he will return the money to her. His new friend has led him to believe she's just inherited 9 Million dollars from her fathers' estate and she's now in Kumasi, Ghana, Africa settlings things. I just don't know where this scam is headed and what I can do to protect my mom. Do you have any advise?

Your instincts are correct. This is a classic script for the Romance/Inheritance scam.

Have you asked your mother if he has access to her bank account? Have you contacted her bank to alert them that her account may be compromised and there is a Ghana scammer which may be targeting her (indirectly)?
