While working with a problem with PayPal and needing to change credit cards account

Customer Question

While working with a problem with PayPal and needing to change credit cards for my account, I was told that the information would not go through because my computer had been hacked. He referred me to Tech Trager in New York City and after much persuasion, he referred me to a "Microsoft certified technician" who let me know he could take care of all our network issues. All I needed to do was to have a check in the amount of $495.50 (or some such figure) which would be picked up here at my home tomorrow by a FedEx person. I
felt it was not legitimate, but as I am not technologically saavy (78 yrs), I felt I had no recourse and so they did the "work." (?) In checking after the fact, I realize I have been "taken" --thank you so much for your helpful information and validation that an ole lady's intuition is still working -- if only I had not felt trapped. Thanks again, Carol in Indy
