Is snopes reliable, credible, politically unbiased?
Already Tried: I don't like false political accusations about either party and have trusted Snopes answers, now I have learned that many have questioned its ability and honesty
Hi, My name is XXXX XXX I'd be happy to answer your questions today.
Snopes is owned by a husband and wife team. One of them is a Canadian citizen and therefore does not vote in American elections. The other, David, registered Republican some years ago but did not state a party affiliation in 2008.
I've seen emails going around that claim that they're biased, but they're not secretly affiliated with any political party, and the site tries to remain relatively unbiased (as human beings, it's hard not to ever let any personal bias sneak in, especially when you see some of the issues that the site debunks).
Take a look at this site, which debunks some of the myths and rumors surrounding Snopes.http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/internet/a/snopes_exposed.htm
As Barbara and David Mikkelson would tell you personally, you shouldn't always believe everything you read just because it appears to come from a trustworthy source (check out their "Lost Legends" section). But the site is generally a good place to look, if you want to find out if there's any truth to rumors that fly around regarding various political figures and hot button topics.
