How valid is the YAHOO & MSN Easter 2012 Bonanza Promotion, which was organized by YAHOO & MSN WINDOWS LIVE AWARDS? I am supposed to deal with somebody in South Africa.Ralph Wengler XXX@XXXXXX.XXX
Already Tried: Nothing, received identical notices yesterday and today, one was a Subject of an advanced notice the other Subject was notification letter.
Hi and thank you for using JustAnswer! Please clarify: are you receiving e-mail notification or actual written letters?
The email is just the carrier for a one page flyer that is an attachment that starts out, under the YAHOO! title banner, " Dear Winner". It closes with an APPROVED stamp with a signature above it. Below the stamp is typed Mrs. Rita Johanness. The second page is a warning to not tell people about the award unti after you receive the money.
Thank you. Are they asking you to send/wire them any money?
No, there are no requests for money. They assigned a person in South Africa as fiduciary agent with a pair of email addresses and a telephone number. Information requested is: Full Names, Country, Contact Address, Telephone Number, Fax Number, Marital Status, Occupation, Date of birth, and Sex.There is a section providing identification numbers for: BATCH NUMBER, REFERENCE NUMBER, WINNING NUMBER, and PIN. The winning number has six two digit numbers, after it, separated by commas. I don't know if I should forward all six, or pick one at random.
Thank you. It is (and has been previously reported as) a SCAM. Yahoo and MSN are not operating such a thing.Do not give them your personal information. They only want to use it to steal your identity.Again, there is no such lottery. It's a scam. Do not enter it.What are your options now?If you wish to continue this conversation, click on the Continue Conversation link. If you are satisfied that I have answered your question, then please rate the answer with a four or a five so that I receive credit for assisting you. Positive ratings are the only way I receive credit for assisting you today.IF you feel the need to click either "Helped a little" or "I expected more," then do not rate me (not yet, anyway!). Instead, reply to me using the REPLY or CONTINUE CONVERSATION button. Specify what additional information you need and I will be happy to continue further and do everything I can to provide you with the service you seek. Thanks, ~~ J.B.
