is my money monitor a scam?
Hello and thank you for entrusting me to answer your question. There are a great number of scam businesses out there promising to help you recover "lost money" or "property." While it is true that the government will hold onto "lost property" in certain circumstances, individuals absolutely DO NOT need a service such as Money Monitor to assist them in finding it. Anyone can conduct public record searches on their own to determine whether any money is being held in their name. Of course, in VAST majority of circumstances, no such money even exists to be claimed. What these companies will do is charge you a fee to search for unclaimed money on your behalf. As noted, in the vast, vast majority of cases, there is no unclaimed or "lost" money in your name, but these companies will typically still charge their fee. What is interesting about this particular company is that they appear to be operating under several different names. I determined this by running a search on their phone number to see where else it appears. I found the same phone number being used as the phone number for the following other businesses:http://www.nationalclaimsrecoveryservices.com/about2.htmlhttp://www.nationalclaimsrecoveryservices.com/about2.htmlhttp://myhouseguard.com/privacy-policyWhen a business is operating under multiple different names in the same industry, that is a huge red flag that they are not legitimate, as there is no legitimate reason for this but to deceive and make it hard for negative reviews to be traced back to you.Indeed, the service this business is offering is completely unecessary and will likely just COST you money. Accordingly, you would be very wise to avoid this business at all costs. For information on claiming "lost" money, see this legitimate article from Reuters: http://blogs.reuters.com/reuters-money/2011/10/07/how-to-claim-unclaimed-money-without-getting-scammed/I sincerely XXXXX XXXXX this information helps you and I wish you the best.My absolute greatest concern is that you are satisfied with the answer I provide, so please do not hesitate to contact me with follow-up questions.
