I am trying to verify that a company that has made an offer to buy my timeshare is legitimate. Agent: Neil Anderson "International Properties Exposure INC 4141 North Kenmore Ave Chicago Illinois, USA 60613
Already Tried: BBB on line scam sites and Dun & Bradstreet NO Results
Hello Jacustomer, International Investment Exposure, Inc.'s website was created on December 8, so the business is about 2 months old. That would explain why it has left no trace of itself on the web. There is nothing I can point to in order to show a successful track record or, for that matter, any record at all.The Whois information says that the company is registered to someone named Sally, not what I'd call confidence inspiring. "Sally's" phone number is XXXXX toll free number. The website itself is not convincing. Maybe those are the real employees, but they look very much like stock photos which you can get for free or purchase for use at a nominal price. Their credentials are not given. As you indicated, they are not known to the BBB. However, even more worrisome is the fact that their corporation is not registered with the Illinois Secretary of State.. The State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, has no listing for Neil Anderson as a Licensed Timeshare reseller agent. They have no listing for the firm either.I can't say for sure that International Properties Exposure is a scam. It has set off very loud alarms, and I'm leaning in that direction, but maybe it's just brand new. In any case, what you want is a solid company with a visible independent track record, and this one isn't it. What you don't want is an upfront fee and a reseller that nobody seems to have used or heard about, no matter how attractive the price he quotes sounds. No people looking to sell their time share are making big money on resales in this economy. That's why scammers are so successful in their victims. Most sellers dealing with actual resellers are not profiting much if at all by the resale. They are simply getting out from under the monthly maintenance fees. If this outfit is calling you with big promises (and/or a big up front fee) run. This is an area which is loaded with scammers preying upon people who are desperate to get rid of a big drain on their finances at a tough economic time. The FTC has been warning consumers about the various scams in this area. They have a very helpful article where they help you ask the right questions and know when you're getting the right answers, when you are evaluating a company of this type. If you read this and familiarize yourself with what you have to know and do first before you contract with a timeshare reseller, you should come out of the deal okay. (see link for article) But I can't recommend this company.FranL40971.848225
