Customer Question

I am installing an alternator on my 73 Ford ranchero but an having trouble realigning it so the bolts holding it in are in line & they insert easily. Any suggestions?
JA: What is the model of your '73 Ford?
Customer: It's a GT 302 CID
JA: Are you fixing your GT yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, I put the long upper bolt in but the lower bolt that goes thru the bracket won't line up. I have tried both putting the bolt thru the front of the bracket into the threaded part of the alternator & also thru the back of the bracket into the alternator.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That sums it up.

Hi, My name is***** can help you. Have you tried loosening the lower bracket to get all bolts aligned first then tightening bracket? Can you send a picture of bracket?

Let me know if loosening lower bracket to line up better helps.

Here is a picture that should look similar your set up on your engine. Loosen the lower bracket bolt at pivot point near crankshaft pulley. Once you get all the bolts in and belt adjusted then tighten the pivot bolt. You only have to loosen pivot bolt enough to move bracket up or down.
