Customer Question

door ajar lights stays on and I've had it to the shop twice and they can't get it to come on when they have the vehicle.
JA: Have you checked the fuses? Have you checked the door switches?
Customer: they have checked the door switches had it hooked up shop replace the rear hatch latch
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2006 ford escape xlt 4x4
JA: Are you fixing your Escape yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No I've been taking to my shop mechanic and he has had it for three days and said the light never came on. I picked it up from the shop this evening and when I pulled into the housing division the light came on.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: not sure if the shop mechanic checked the fuses

Hi. The fuse would likely not be the cause of the door ajar light. THey really need to catch it acting up. Have they replaced the switches in any of the other doors?

No

They said the switches are worked my okay

It sounds like the switches are only working ok when they have the vehicle. Have you tried lubing the door latches and seeing if that helps?

Customer: replied 20 days ago.
I've sprayed wd40 on the latches

My brother thinks it's the relay switch
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 20 days ago.

Let me check. Dont think there is a relay involved.

The door ajar inputs go to the interior fuse panel. Then the interior fuse panel, based on the input from the switch, will turn on the door ajar indicator in the cluster and the dome lamps. So if the switches and the latches are ok, there could be a wiring concern, such as a chaffed wire, or the interior fuse box maybe faulty.

If you had access to a good scanner to plug into the vehicle, that can view the door ajar switch status in the fuse panel, then you could isolate which door could be at fault.
