Customer Question

Hello
JA: Hi. How can we help?
Customer: Ineed to reconnect the start wires after having removed an alcohol lock (not breaking any laws) and there's something not really working out
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: I'm afair bit further into the electrics... ;-)
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: Ford transit 2012 diesel A electric schematic would be the thing imed.
JA: Are you fixing your Transit yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, I'm playing at mechanic.... Not really. I'm looking into what someone else managed to mangle. And need the electric schematic for it.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Can you help me with that?

What are you needing the starter circuit wiring?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
a bit further into it.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Okay lets start with the stater circuit from the ignition to the starter . See the diagram in the link below. Have a look and see if this is what your needing.

No the one for the key and steering wheel
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
assembly.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Which assembly?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Just amoment
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Let me know which assembly you need and we can work from there.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
There's nothing between key and "run" and no instruments switching on.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Power has to come from the ignition switch , check for power in and out and see if the connector view for the ignition switch will help you determine which wires are not getting power.See the switch view in the link below.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
There's a connector with a blue/white _ green/orange _ gray/red (which seem to be the power lead) and then a brown/white (or yellow) wire
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Sorry, lost the page for a second...
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Do you see the connector number in the wiring diagram I sent you, if you can get me the connector number I can find it for you.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It's the same connector, but thin wires in the order I described.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Where do I find the number on it?
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

If you look at the ignition and starter circuit diagram I sent you , you will see all the connector are numbered. Have a look at it and see if you can tell me the connector number and I can find it from there.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I've photographed it for you..
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

That dose not help me, can you tell me what it connects to?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It connects to that grey connector, under the steering wheel.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Like this...
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

That looks like the ignition switch . Did you look at the connector view I sent you for this switch?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I have looked at both documents you've sent.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Look at this link which shows all the switches on the column, tell me which number it is in the diagram.

Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Okay that what I thought and I sent you the connector view for it. See it again in this link.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
that is the one I have both described and sent you pics of.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Okay if you look at it you will see its labeled showing you what wires go where.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Problem is there's only four wires in it.
Coloured as I wrote above.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

I am not sure why it will not match the factory wiring unless they remove the other wires during the interlock wiring. Do you have any other loose wire from the interlock that could likely go there?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No, but it partly works if I run power (12V) to the grey/red wire.
Could it be PATS that is the problem?
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
This is my free trial, right?
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It might be of interest to know it's a Swedish van, and running diesel.
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

The steps I sent you are right from Ford for the 2012 Ford Transit. You are not charged unless you rate the service. I can open the post back up for you and perhaps someone else may have something new to add. Let me know.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No, I thank you for trying.
I think it's hard to get further. I need to check all cables....
So I don't rate you then I get my money back?
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Any money you have placed in your account remains your unless you request a refund. You will need to contact customer service for this.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
if I don't rate you, you don't get paid?
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Yes that is correct. I am only paid if you rate 3 stars or higher.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Isn't that a harsh?
What if the customer is a jerk?
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Sometimes they are but we have to take it either way.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
OK, the problem, as I see it is that we found a connector, but even if it is Ford original you couldn't help me. That is awkward. Did I get appropriate help, or not?
Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

That would be your call completely. I have done what I can from here but it your not happy its really up to you. No hard feeling from me either way.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Well, we tried.
Regardless of how that part ends - thank you.

Expert:  Ron replied 4 months ago.

Your very welcome and thank you as well. I would review the diagrams and see if you can find the missing wires. These should be the correct diagrams.
