I had a friend do a rewire job on my trailer connection on

Customer Question

I had a friend do a rewire job on my trailer connection on 2005 ford 150 stx. When he started the 4 prong was working. He rewired to a 7 prong which is connected to the 4 prong. There is now no power to either the 4 prong or 7 prong
JA: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Customer: no power at all. We are thinking a fuse or relay switch was blown.
JA: Are you fixing your E150 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: We just tried to locate if power was getting to the hitch which there isn't. We are pretty sure he blew a fuse or relay switch
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Nope, just trying to figure out which fuse or relay switch is responsible for the connection

Is there any power to any of the prongs with all the lights, brake light and turn signals on?
How far did they rewire it?
Just at the back or all the way to the dash fuse box?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Just from the back. No power at all

Ok. More than likely you have blown fuses. Make sure all the rear lights work on the truck first before I have you chasing fuses. Please make sure all the lights work.

---parking lights

---brake lights

---back up lights

All of the truck lights work

Check fuse 10, 36 and 42 in the dash fuse box. You cannot wire a 7 prong connector into a 4 prong harness.

Is there a relay switch problem
Expert:  A. Penland replied 1 month ago.

No, just fuses. More than likely they blew the fuses. It may not have been wired properly.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I checked 10 and it was OK I will check 36 and 42 tomorrow
