Have Ford Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. please allow me a few moment to look up some information for you. thanks.
what engine is in that?
are you getting any lights on the cluster also?
have you had the transmission contol module interrogated for faults?
no, i mean tcm.
you need a more sophisticated scan tool for that though. a normal scan tool isnt capable of communicating with it.
The transmission control module is located under the truck on the cross member behind the transmission.
do this next, its a known issue ion these trucks. inpsect the OD cancel switch wires coming out of the shifter under the upper steering column shroud to see if there chaffed. This circuit controls the OD cancel switch and the throttle pedal.
ok well at this point you need the tcm scanned for faults.
it should be behind the tranny...ill try to find a pic
well on this truck they refer to it as the multifunction control module. or GEM.
im going to opt out and allow another ford tech to help you with this one. there seems to be alot of variances here. good luck

Different tech here.
You mentioned the check engine light came on, any codes stored?
Are you saying you can apply full throttle and the engine does not respond at all, it just idles as if no throttle was applied?
Will your scan tool allow you to see parameters/pids meaning watch the readings from sensors?
Do you have a digital volt meter?
Can you perform the tests below and report back when ready.
