Remote start does not work... although doors lock/unlock
Trying to determine if my van (2002 Windstar) is in Valet mode
JA: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded?
Customer: On the vehicle or the remote?
Haven't checked, but power does not seem to be the issue ...
JA: What is the model of your '02 Ford?
Customer: Sport
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes ..... tried different attempts to come out of valet mode.
Ign off/on 5 times
Multiple buttons on remote
Ign on, with break and pressing remote start ...
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not right now

Also tried leaving the factory key in the ignition (off) with remote start.

Hello, when the remove start doesn't work the horn should honk anywhere from 1-6 times. How many times does the horn honk?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
That's part of the issue... I haven't been able to find any info on how to access the remove start 'program' ... it doesn't honk. When I press remote start, the lights automatically blink 5 times.... indicating it did not start.

When the lights blink 5 times it should indicate the same amount of horn honks for the failure. This usually indicates the key is in the ignition. When the vehicle is off and the key is removed does the ignition still has the key beeping
