I think with this I would start by checking the shift cable. You can see where it connects under the air filter box on the transmission. Make sure it's connected there, and if it is, then take the cover off the shifter assembly and check it there. Since the shifter is stuck in park, but the transmission is stuck in neutral, it kind of indicates that the linkage has popped off of one end or the other. If the range switch isn't in park, then the shift release won't work.

That being said, make sure you have brake lights before you start taking anything apart. I would hate to have you do all that work to find out it's a shift interlock problem.

From here though, it sounds like either the cable popped off or the shifter assembly might have broken on you.
