The code P0301 indacates you have an engine misfire in the #1 cylinder. Is this the only code your getting?

Providing the spark plug and wire on that cylinder are okay and in good shape as well as having no restricted EGR ports then the most common cause for this type of misfire on the 3.8 is in most cases caused by a failing coil. Its not uncommon for the misfire to be intermittent as well and come and go. I would start with replacing the coil with a know good coil and see if that solves the problem.
