Code P 1450 2013 Ford Explorer Evap. Purge Solenoid Valve.

Customer Question

Code P 1450 2013 Ford Explorer
Evap. Purge Solenoid Valve.
Have been operating the vehicle for 2 weeks with check engine light on. When the light first came on , I was passing another vehicle and encountered a lag before it accelerated. Car has been running fine ever since.
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: It stays on.
JA: Are you fixing your Explorer yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Not planning to fix it unless it needs something done . I think it could have been bad fuel. Have filled it twice and it seems to run. Fine.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Although did not clear the code. Was advised not to.

Thank you for that information. So the purge valve was replaced correct? Was the vent solenoid replaced?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
As I explained nothing has been done to the vehicle other than reading the codes.
Expert:  AMEDEE replied 6 months ago.

Got it! Thank you for clearing that up. The most common cause of this code is a faulty evaporitive canister purge solenoid.

How expensive is this fix ballpark? And is it necessary if the vehicle has been running fine for 2 weeks since the light came on.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Also is it easily replaced by a rookie like myself?
Expert:  AMEDEE replied 6 months ago.

The part is very inexpensive and super easy to replace. You can do it for under 30 or 40 bucks. A shop would charge about $150 to replace this part.
