Fuel pump not getting power, I replaced it, 1998 ford

Customer Question

fuel pump not getting power
JA: Have you ever replaced the fuel pump, or is this the original?
Customer: I replaced it
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 1998 ford ranger, 4 cyl. I have no fuse diagram to help me.
JA: Are you fixing your Ranger yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes, I've hot wired both pumps and they work, but when I turn key to on they do not pump
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Is it fuse or relay or possibly the ignition switch?

Hello and welcome! My name isCustomerand I can assist you with your question. The fuel pump gets power from the intertia switch after going through the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay gets powered up by the PCM relay so both relays and circuits will need to be checked. Also, be sure that the check engine light comes on with the key on for a bulb check as the computer controls the fuel pump circuit.
