Loud popping or clunking noise after I first start driving

Customer Question

Loud popping or clunking noise after I first start driving and then nothing after that.
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: Somewhere near the front passenger tire. Only a few days.
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2005 Ford F150 FX4
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Brake pads were replaced recently, by a friend and me, and the clips were not put back in. Did that and no help. Checked the U joints and they seem to be ok. Not much slippage. Yes, I do plan on doing it myself.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Only that within the past year there has been a lot of vibration, but when the brakes are hit pretty hard, it stops.

Hello, does it make noise when put in gear or when driving in a certain manner? While turning or braking?
