JA: What year is your Ford?
Customer: Sorry, need help getting "Vehicle Transport Mode Active" turned off so my 2014 Ford Escape can start. Also saying something like "no key recognized"
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: Yes for both.
JA: Are you fixing your Escape yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes, tried a few things, none worked.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Think that is it.

Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation

Deactivation

  • Place the ignition in the OFF position.
  • Verify the battery is fully charged.
    Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Diagnosis and Testing).
  • NOTE: On vehicles with Push-Button Start, place a programmed passive key in the PATS backup starting location.

    Place the ignition in the ON position.
  • NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 must be carried out within 10 seconds.

    Press and release the brake pedal 5 times.
  • Press and release the hazard switch 2 times (on, off).
  • NOTE: When exiting Factory mode, the IPC message center indicates NORMAL MODE when the procedure has been successfully completed.

    Place the ignition in the OFF position.
