When it is hot, the van becomes sluggish, then quits. Runs

Customer Question

When it is hot, the van becomes sluggish, then quits. Runs great most of the time. Hot as in over 95 degrees outside, driving up a steep mountain road. Temperature gauge barely creeps above normal operating temperature.
JA: How many miles are on the car? Have you checked the coolant level?
Customer: 135,000 miles, coolant is full. Van itself is not running real hot, just a little above normal temperature. I live in a mountain town and it has happened 2X. Both on really hot days.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing yet. Check engine light does not come on. Maybe the O2 sensor coming off the exhaust is throwing off the computer? I think I have a minor exhaust leak somewhere as well, just started running a little louder when this problem started happening.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: no
