I am trying to replace the brake light switch on my 2001

Customer Question

I am trying to replace the brake light switch on my 2001 Ford Escape and cannot get the wiring harness off of the old one. Is there a trick to this I am not seeing?

Hello, it should pop off unless it is melted to the switch which is not uncommon, if the switch came with a new connector it should be replaced. Either the wiring gets damaged and breaks or the switch over heats and melts the connector to the switch

Well luckily its only two wires, so not to difficult to repair. Most switch kits come with a new pigtail connector, if not your local parts store or dealer should stock one.
